Crystal substitutions, broken crystals, and crystals for infants and children.
Question: I am your facebook fan, just gone through your website. Can I use any crystal of the same colour for my problem? suppose I don't have yellow fluorite so can I use any other yellow crystal instead of yellow fluorite? My rose quartz has broken can I use broken rose quartz? Can I use crystals on infants and children? Too many questions but please reply me I will be thankful.
Answer: No, you cannot use a crystal of the same color for a specific problem unless it is chakra work. To use your example, you could not use Citrine as a substitute for Yellow Fluorite to help with cholesterol. You could use one of the other suggested crystals instead. The reason you could not substitute a crystal of the same color is that the chemical makeup, and therefore energetic properties of the crystal are different. However, say you are working on your Solar Plexus chakra, which is yellow. You could use any yellow colored crystal to help balance your Solar Plexus as the color frequency would match, regardless of the actual crystal. In my crystal tips I do my best to offer several suggestions and most of them are fairly common and inexpensive crystals.
When it comes to broken crystals, you will find varying recommendations. I've seen some people say you must bury the crystal and give it back to Mother Earth. Others say that you need to gift the crystal to someone else. The most important thing is for you to follow your intuition on what feels right to you. Yes, you can still work with a broken crystal, but I recommend you give it a very good cleansing first. I have had crystals break and if a small piece broke off that I feel can no longer be worked with or if I feel the crystal is done working then I take it outside and place it in my fairy rock garden. Other ones I continue to work with. The way I see it is these crystals are already "broken". They have been broken away from the location that they grew from. They did not come naturally polished or shaped. They were helped to become that way. If a crystal breaks it is because it has received too much energy that it could no longer stay in 1 piece or because it choose to break. These crystals can become empathetic crystals. They can help you see that although something might be broken, it is still beautiful and can still be useful. The only time that the broken crystal would not be able to be used for the purpose you originally intended would be if it was shaped in a certain way for a particular purpose. I've had 2 double terminated Quartz points break in half. That just means I now have 4 single terminated Quartz points. It's sad, but unfortunately it happens. As I said before, the most important thing is how do YOU feel about the crystal and what your intuition tells you is the best thing for you and the crystal.
Yes, you can use crystals on infants and children. However, please be very careful and cautious as you wouldn't want the child to put the crystal in their mouth or accidentally swallow one. Something I have recommended is creating a gem elixir, especially for infants. This way they still get the energy without the risk. I've created little bags with crystals in them for my infant nieces and nephews. My sister-in-laws put it under the crib where it would be out of the reach of the baby. I've also heard of other people making a mobile or hanging bag that would hang over the crib, again, still out of the reach of the baby. As for toddlers, see how they are around your crystals. I have a 2 1/2 year old niece who collects my brother's crystals and will carry them around with her like they are the most precious things in the world. I gave her a large piece of Rose Quartz so she has her very own crystal to take care of. For some children, this might be too young. You need to make sure they are no longer in the stage where they put everything in their mouth. Both of my boys have been collecting crystals since they were about that age as well. Children are very drawn to rocks and crystals, so I think it is a wonderful thing and definitely believe in them having their own little collection.
